but i just have to say. and i dont wanna start this big argument. i’m just stating my opinion. i’m so tired of hearing about these inmates and other people crying about how the death penalty, more specifically using lethal injection, is cruel and unusual punishment. last i checked the girl they raped and beat and killed in the alley was cruelly and unusually punished. and the cop they killed wasn’t asked his thoughts on it all before they blew his head off. and the kid they kidnapped and chopped up and left in your basement’s thoughts werent really considered before ya did it, were they? obviously they committed some heinous murder to even GET the death penalty. so to me, i dont care if it hurt ALOT to have this drug administered to them. to me, it seems pretty merciful that they get to die that way. a pretty peaceful death if you ask me compared to the way they got in prison to begin with. i know this may anger some of you who are opposed to the death penalty. and i’m sorry. but i’m for it and i dont wanna argue about it and i really hate that these inmates are bitching about the way they are being put to death when they sure as heck didn’t care about the way they murdered someone to even be on death row.

Well said! I couldn’t agree more! In fact, I wrote a paper once on lowering the age limit of ‘legal adult’if the crime was one that was major.

More people need to speak up like this!

I say give them all a weapon and let them take care of each other, give all the guards the day off (except the ones who make sure they don’t escape).

Can you tell how I fell about this? Sorry if I offended anyone.

We don’t have the death penalty here, at times I wish we did, others glad we didn’t.
There have been a number of cases around here over the years since DNA has been perfected, that people that have been jailed as murderers/rapists etc., have since been cleared after years spent in jail.

Those people would be my only concern with regards to a death penalty.

As far as jail time/penalities etc. I think inmates get way too much. Karla Homolka/Bernardo (they made a movie of them with that red haired chick from that 70′s show) committed some unspeakable evil crimes, she is now out and has a psych degree that she got while in prison.WTF?? inmates here are also allowed to vote from what i have heard. again WTF?

in general i think the whole system needs an overhaul.

    sorry, got off rambling there!!

  • I moved from Ohio (death penalty state) to Michigan (no death penalty state). Last time I checked, the crime rate in Michigan (Detroit area that I live in, anyways) is higher than in the bigger Ohio cities. Hmmm… fear of the death penalty in Ohio perhaps?? This chica is definitely pro-death penalty. Tired of my tax dollars paying for appeals for 4589345893485934 years.

Adam and I always debate this. He’s totally for the death penalty and I am against it.

I’m not against it in the usual way, though. The only reason I’m against it is because it doesn’t work to deter crime. It only works as revenge. Revenge is cool and good for family and friends of victims, but we need to find a way for it to deter crime better, too.

And I agree Becky- I’m getting so sick of all the crime and rape and murder and having to worry about going to my car in the dark. It isn’t like I live in the middle of NYC, but that worry is always there. It’s getting insane.

And why do we care so much about prisoner rights? I think that we should be able to study their nasty little brains so that we can learn more about criminals and then toss them aside. No tv, no college degrees, nothing.

OK, and one other thing- what is the freaking deal with letting crimals who commited sexual crimes out? It has been proven that this is a sickness and they are going to commit the crime again. Even the inmates often admit they would strike again if they had the chance. Don’t you think that would cause us to have stricter laws that would put these people away for life? This one really bugs me. Why should I, a relatively law-abiding citizen, have to check a web site every quarter to see if a sex offender moved onto my street? That is f-d up.

yes mollly its unfortunate that there might be some innocent people that are on death row but the majority, probably 99.99% ARE guilty of the crime and so i have no sympathy for them. i remember that case from canada with that couple. i can’t believe she’s outta prison already

I agree with you that people on death row should have no sympathy from us, but I disagree with the concept of death penalty. It should be abolished because in the long run it saves taxpayers money (I never knew that till recently, I always thought it was the other way around) and because I think a sentence of life in prison is a better punishment than something quick and relatively painless.

(I hope you dont mind the debate)

But another reason I am opposed to death penalty is that it is so disproportional to minorities and poor people. I am no way racist but the fact is that if you are a rich white man who has murdered you most likely will not be executed for it.

Even worse, we have mafia hitmen with well over a dozen “hits” to their credit who don’t recieve the death penalty because they agree to talk. Yet, a poor man who commits a crime of passion gets executed. Both cases are murderers and you could make a stronger case that the mafia guy deserves the death penalty but in the end, the guy who can’t afford a good attorney is the one who gets the ultimate punishment.

Right there with you girl. In fact I generally think anyone who harms a child deserves to be totured slowely for years to come.

    [Reply]

  • mollymcmo says:

i have to agree with you ladies, anyone that harms a child, there should be special rules just to deal with them. out of the whole “criminal” population they rank (in my book anyway) the scum of the scum.

yes becky karla homolka is out already with her psych degree from the tax payers. when the investigation was going on the police were afraid they didn’t have enough to go on to get paul bernardo (her husband) so they made a deal with her to testify against him and for her to “talk”

after this deal they found video tapings of the rapings/torture of these girls and found out more the extent of which she “offered” up her young sister to bernardo (she ended up dead too.

she should have had a life sentence, intead she served 12years i believe. disgusting really. the heinous stuff they did was so unbelievable they had a ban on most of the details here while the trial was going on.
