Update on my moving along
I really do feel like I took on the crazy and beat it. Dramatic or not, I felt like I was losing touch with reality. I felt like I was losing my ability to control some things in my life. That’s how I felt. Me. But then I took it over. And for the past 2 weeks I’ve been SO much happier. I let my issues with that person that I can’t stand go. I’ve actually even been nice to them when I see them in passing. I don’t go out of my way to be in contact with them BUT I also don’t go out of my way to be angry either. When I finally realized that I was creating my own prison…it sucked. I feel free now though. That’s all that matters.
Also, I forgot something awesome that Hannah said to me that I forgot to tell y’all. It’s probably the best Mother of the Year (MOTY) moment for me so far in my motherhood journey. And you know, I’m glad my mother doesn’t read this blog because she’d probably be so disappointed in me after reading this. See, my mom sheltered us big time growing up. I never listened to anything other than Christian music (besides Michael Jackson because he’s a legend) until I was 10 years old. I was sheltered from SO much those years. I was ignorant to a lot. Well, I’ve not taken on the same path as my mother and Hannah, while sheltered somewhat by being in Christian school and going to church and all those other good things….I let her listen to the radio with me. We jam to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake…and of course Michael Jackson. I don’t see anything wrong with this. So when she asked me the other day “Mom, what’s a disco stick?” I was presented with a predicament. Obviously I couldn’t tell her what it really was. So quickly I said “It’s a flashlight”. She said “Oh” and left it at that.
I’m sorry Mom. Really.
This MOTY moment brought to you by Lady Gaga and I don’t even like her. *Sigh*

yep, I got asked that same questions and pretended the music was too loud. I can’t stand Lady Gaga, yet it appears she rules the universe.

I just hope she doesn’t go around singing the song, thinking she’s singing about a flashlight. I did something similar a couple of times, actually, when I was a kid.

I actually think I like the song, but GaGa is just plain strange! It is funny that this happened, my husband asked me just the other day what I would say to our daughter if she asked what a disco stick was. I told him that I would tell her that I did not know, it probably had something to do with dancing.
I figure it would not really be lying. I mean, I can guess what it is, but it could be that I just have a dirty mind and that is not really what it is at all… OK, stretching I know, but what else am I gonna do???

oh just wait. you’ll see how much lying you do to your kids. it’s monumental. LOL they ask too much stuff that they can’t know!

their sweet little minds are not thinking ANYTHING dirty at all when it comes to lyrics, so if/when she asks, you can tell her anything and she’ll believe you. could you imagine how horrified she’d be if you told her what it really was?! LOL

Good save. Let her think it means flashlight for as long as possible.
BTW, I can’t stand Lady GaGa either.

I told you this on Twitter already but for the benefit of your readers, I will repeat – at least your daughter didn’t already know what it was!!! Cuz mine totally did. I know that she knows more than she thinks I know (how’d you like THAT one??!) and I swear she hasn’t learned any of it at home! (Ok except a few choice cuss words, that I will admit to) But nothing about sex or disco sticks or anything else!
I am glad you are letting go of The Crazy…I went through a similar stage in my life as well. Now I don’t let a lot get to me. I think they call this growing up….

Ok, I’m 36 and obviously not a Lady Gaga listener. But I don’t know what a disco stick is. I’m pretty sure I think i know but if I was your daughter I would say oh too. LOL. I’ve sheltered myself…ahhh!
