My Thanksgiving trip to Ohio
Hi. I’m alive. My blogging hiatus lasted longer than I thought it would but omg I was so busy at work yesterday. I had a great time…relaxed A LOT which was much needed…saw a lot of my family…took a lot of pictures and of course, ate a lot. I went about this trip differently than my other trips. I made no plans to see any friends. At first I hated that I was going about it that way. But I knew if I started making plans to see friends then I’d be SO tied up trying to be fair and see everyone I could and then I’d be stressed and busy and annoyed. I just couldn’t handle it this time. Especially not for a holiday. I saw 1 friend the whole week I was there. I hung out with family. I laughed. I watched movies. I just had a really nice time.
It was so great to see my mom. I still worry about her. She seems like she’s getting more and more crazy with each time I see her. Just repeating a lot of the same things…worse speech…more forgetful. Makes me sad. I try to cherish each time I see her because who knows when it will be the last, you know? I hate to sound ominous but it is what it is. It made me so happy though to see her bursting with joy at having all 3 of her grandkids together. I was super excited to see my nephew again. It had been a year since I saw him last when I hugged him and kissed him last week. So, here are a couple of pictures from the trip. I took way too many to post so I picked 2 of my favorites.
By the way, crappy family member? Still crappy. Shocker, yes I know.
In other news, Hannah’s birthday party is this weekend. We always do it a couple weeks before her birthday. She’ll be 7 on the 18th. 7. How in the hell do I have a 7 year old?
Oh yeah- and we get to go out like grown ups tomorrow night for our anniversary finally. Super excited about this!
And um, they’re saying it’s going to snow here today. It’s snowed 2 times in the 8 years I’ve lived here. My ride home from work today is going to be kick ass *insert major sarcasm* Have a great weekend y’all!
Random
1. I hope all you dad’s out there had a great father’s day. i know we did!
2. tomorrow we FINALLY leave for vacation. i probably won’t be blogging much or even at all. but be glad that i’m out having a great time with my family.
3. i gotta say that i’m sick of summer already. the past 2 weeks it’s been 95 degrees or hotter EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. it’s madness. tomorrow? 100. wednesday? 100. and i’m sure it won’t be any cooler in florida.

Business as usual
that’s what my office said tomorrow will be. i worked for a few hours monday and they gave us yesterday off. they told us tomorrow is business as usual and to be at work at 8. i love how UNcompassionate they seem to mostly everyone who is still without power. we’re lucky where we live. our power lines are under ground. we’ve had power since sunday. so many people at my office still don’t have power. it’s craziness that they’re saying we’re to be back to normal tomorrow. it will take MONTHS to go back to normal. and galveston island is a disaster. the kemah boardwalk which is so close to me is basically gone. it’s so upsetting. Nettie’s been off school all week and will at least be off til monday so i’m wondering what kinda damage her school sustained. craziness. i feel like we live in a war zone with helicopters flying over us all day back and forth to galveston. president bush flew over our house this morning to survey the damage. it’s just so WOW you know?
my doctor’s office called today to confirm that they will finally see me tomorrow. *sigh* second verse same as the 1st. blood pressure blah blah
Thank God
so my house is totally ok. we lost our fence but that’s not a big deal. and we FINALLY got our power back after not having it for 2 days. in the grand scheme of things it’s really not as bad as it coulda been. for once i’m glad that we don’t have any big trees….lol. but yeah so we’re home…we’re safe. things are ok. thanks for all your prayers and well wishes!
Quick update
since i don’t know how much longer we’ll have power for i thought i’d update yall on how things are. so far it’s not even raining but the winds have definitely picked up. we are getting a direct hit so this should be interesting. where we’re staying we’ll be safe from the water but the wind is a concern along with the power going out. but i’m all sick thinking about my house cuz we live like 5 mins from the water and the storm surge is like 20 feet and blech….they were showing on the news how roads like 5 mins away were under water. i’m just so scared i’m gonna go back to my house and it’s gonna be totally flooded. it’s all boarded up……but water can go through that. *sigh*. oh yeah and my doc appt yesterday was cancelled. LOL i dodged the bullet again. so i get to go next week right before i leave for my ohio trip.
anyway just wanted to let you know i’m doing alright so far. we all are. next update will be after the storm. it’s due to be worst around midnight tonight. pray!
Today Part 2
so we’re having to evacuate for Hurricane Ike. I’ll keep yall posted when i can about how things are but i know we’ll be totally fine. we’re heading inland and staying with matts dad and step mom. they’ve got a generator so we’ll be good to go. Just keep us in your prayers! Thanks yall!

Yeah. they had all this hype about this stupid storm. i didn’t go to work yesterday because i didn’t wanna get stuck in the office and be away from home. so i think it rained like 3 or 4 hours maybe? by the time 6 or 7:00 rolled around the ground was already freakin dry. way to freak out an entire city, weather people. not that i’m complaining…i’m glad that it was pretty much nothing and that we’re all safe and there was no damage or anything. i’d always rather have that then like the chaos evacuation i had to deal with 3 years ago when Rita hit. and i did enjoy my day off…i swear i slept like ALL day. and relaxed. it was much needed. and then i puked last night so now i feel like crap today. i’m SO over this working thing. really.
