freakin tropical storm edouard. pretty much set to directly hit us. i already let the people here at work know that if this thing is upgraded to a hurricane over night i’m surely not driving my pregnant ass into work. not taking the bus. not coming in. period. i’ve driven in tropical storms. no biggie. but a hurricane? i’d rather sleep in.

earlier this week there was a monsoon out there on my drive in. and it was flooding everywhere. i saw pickup trucks with water up to their windows on my bus ride in. mind you it was a TWO HOUR LONG bus ride. but i shockingly didn’t even care because when i saw all the cars stalled out i was grateful to be on the bus. but it got me to remembering last year…when i had to evacuate for Rita. and sat in my car for 13 hours in 99 degree heat and 100% humidity to drive from houston to dallas. 13 hours. its a 4 hour drive normally. yeah. last nite me and Hubs were talking about evacuating again this year…hoping we dont have to. its such a pain in the ass… packing up all you can and then driving FOREVER only to watch the news 24/7 and praying your house is still there when you get back. not to mention the fact that when we DO evacuate Hubs stays behind. the perks of being a cop i guess, right? I think this year we might luck out and we’ll be ok. last year we already had a few named storms by this time. but i still worry. i’m way paranoid! but how could i not be? after Rita jsut BARELY missed us. anyway thats whats on my mind today. well it was last nite but i’m blogging about it today lol

i’m sorry i’ve been neglecting you. blame it on the rain. literally. there’s a monsoon going on out there making all kinds of national news. which is why i was late to work this morning and thus late getting started on making up a week’s worth of work. and i’m STILL doing it. at 3:30 this afternoon. and now i have a new transcription to work on as well. So i’ll be back to blog when i have more time. when i’m NOT buried in files and transcribing and when i just get my regular life back at work. and i promise to post pics of my trip in here too as soon as i get some time!
